A380 actually flew :p

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

A380The first "double decker" commercial plane finally made its first flight. A full two-floor bird to carry 550 passengers (can be up to 800 actually). I’m a fan of this bird’s predecessors. Eventhough I’m flying these birds in Flight Simulator, I could feel the grip and flight dynamics and I could tell you that Airbus is fantastic. Their designeers and engineers deserve great globally well-knowm rewards.

Trend Micro OfficeScan fooled my computer

Monday, April 25th, 2005

I thought my computer was infected with a virus, wow. I had my firewall on, my AV with latest patterns. And I actually reinstalled my computer :( I realized that this was not a virus, but a bug coming from the AV program itself :( http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/04/25/056236&from=rss
It’s Trend Micro’s bug ! :( ufff. Why didn’t I think of it.. uninstall it at safe mode :(
Trend Micro explains: http://www.trendmicro.com/en/support/pattern594/overview.htm
But a good thing that pleased me is that my computer runs faster now, with less software installed :p And the external hard drive helped me a lot for moving things out before reinstall.

VMware 5 tested

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

I recently installed VMware 5 and have Debian Sarge testing distro as a guest OS, on top of my XP in my IBM T41 laptop. This fifth version seemed to run smoother than the previous one, version 4. The previous version made my computer’s boot time much slower. Installing Linux Mandrake as guest OS still made squeeking microphone noise at startup, I had to write one extra line to the VMware’s config file to turn off the microphone. X window worked well on Debian and Mandrake, but sound didn’t work on Mandrake. I concluded Debian as the most stable guest OS for now.

Thursday, April 14th, 2005

The Best Model of MetroTV (Indonesian TV station) Fashion Model 2005, Tiffany Hendrawan (Fanny) is going to Paris for the Grand Final, 12 May 2005. She is from Surabaya, my home town. 172cm tall and 51.5kg, wow. She is still a high school student (12th year), and now begging her teachers to have the final test earlier. Here she is (taken from http://danevil.blogspot.com/2005_02_20_danevil_archive.html):

Songkran is coming

Sunday, April 10th, 2005

9 April 2005 I went to Ratchadamnoen street to watch the Songkran season opening parade. The water game was actually started, maybe only on that day. I got spitted by an elephant :( my shirt and shorts were all wet, lucky I had my camera covered under my belly. There was this one car with ‘girls’ waving, no one knows whether they are really ‘girls’. For the other pictures, take a look at my photo albums.

MSN Messenger 7.0 Released

Thursday, April 7th, 2005

Last night I installed MSN 7.0 build 777, the final release. The first time I load the program, it took longer time to sign in, even failed at first. I don’t know whether this is the AIT’s network problem or MSN itself. MSN 7.0 doesn’t look much different with the Beta version, the buddy icons now shows buddy’s pictures instead of the blue online user image. A pop up window appeared showing your Hotmail inbox, spaces (blog) and MSN today. The rests are the same.

Gmail: 2GB+ and counting

Tuesday, April 5th, 2005

What would you do if you were Yahoo, asking you twenty bucks a year for a mailbox space of 2GB? Gmail is adding up our storage space, meaning the "you never have to delete your mail again" thing is absolutely right. The 50 invitation left thing seems permanent to all users now. The login screen now shows your "Google account" instead of Gmail account.
